The short answer
New students must be screened within 7 working days of arriving. Until it is done, EMGS cannot start putting your student pass into your passport.
How it works
Your institution’s international office usually tells you which clinic to use and how to book.
Your 7 working days start from your arrival date, so plan the screening into your first week, alongside registration.
EMGS publishes a list of registered clinics. Students at some public universities can use the university’s in-house clinic instead.
The clinic completes EMGS’s Medical Examination Report form. Ask the clinic what is included and how long results take.
Once you are cleared, EMGS can move on to the pass endorsement in your passport.
Fees to plan for
The EMGS calculator lists these options without naming which institutions use which, so confirm with your institution. Figures checked 3 November 2026.
